One Month In: Let’s Keep Working Together
It’s hard to believe we are already about a month into the school year! The first few weeks of school always come with a few bumps, new routines, schedules to figure out, and plenty of little wrinkles to iron out. Hopefully, things are beginning to settle in, and everyone is finding their rhythm.
As we move into the school year, we want to remind our families just how important your involvement is in your student’s success. Take a few minutes to check in with your kids. Ask them how their classes are going, what they’re enjoying, and if there is anything they are struggling with. Sometimes a simple conversation can make a big difference.
If your student is having trouble in a class, please don’t wait until the end of the quarter to reach out. Connect with their teacher and start the conversation early. Our teachers want to see students succeed, and when parents, students, and teachers communicate and work together, we can make sure students have the support they need.
Communication is important in another big area as well—attendance. If your student is absent, please remember to notify the school. When an absence is not reported, the student may be considered truant. If there is something going on that is making regular attendance difficult, please reach out to the school. We would much rather have a conversation and work together to find a solution than have a family try to navigate a situation on their own.
A successful school year takes all of us—students, parents, teachers, staff, and our community. Thank you to our families for supporting your students, encouraging them, asking questions, and staying involved. When we communicate, support one another, and work together, our students have the best opportunity to thrive.
