Meet the Board

The Lincoln County School District is governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees who work to support student achievement and guide the vision of our schools.

Here are our Board members:

Ann Smith

Ann Smith

I moved to Lincoln County in 1973 and started teaching in the 5th grade. I taught for 2 years, then stopped to start our family. In 1980, I resumed teaching, starting in Kindergarten, which I did for 13 years. Then moved to 1st grade for the same number of years. I finished the next 13 years teaching 3rd grade. I retired in 2015. I substitute taught in several of the schools in the district for the next 4 years.

I met my husband shortly after moving to Caliente, and we have 7 children and 25 grandchildren. We do a lot of traveling to see family. I enjoy the rural life here, and our family loves to come and visit our area.

It is a joy to continue to serve Lincoln County School District as a school board member. It is good to learn new things and meet people.

As a graduate of both UNLV and ASU Megan finds education of the uptmost importance in a childs life.

A parent of 1 child in the Lincoln County school district and 2 bonus children she never tires of attending school functions and sports games. Her main goal is creating a safe learning environment where children can thrive. Megan wants the community to know that she is proud to serve as trustee on the Lincoln County School Board and is dedicated to representing the voices and values of the community. Beyond the boardroom Megan loves spending time with her husband, 3 children and golden retriever. Restoring historic homes and buildings in the community and enjoying the incredible outdoor life that Lincoln County has to offer!

Wade Poulsen

My name is Wade Poulsen, and I represent the Alamo District on the Lincoln County School Board of Trustees. I was born and raised in Alamo and am a proud graduate of Pahranagat Valley High School. My wife and I chose to raise our family here, and all of our children are also proud PVHS graduates. This community means a great deal to me, and it has been an honor to serve and give back through my role on the school board.

Once my current term ends, I will have termed out of my position on the board. It’s been a rewarding experience to be part of the decisions that shape our schools and support the success of our students. In addition to serving on the board, I’ve had the privilege of helping coach various teams at Pahranagat Valley High School over the years, and I’ve truly enjoyed every minute of it. Being involved in both academics and athletics has deepened my appreciation for the dedication of our students, teachers, and community.

Andy Free

My name is Andy Free, and I proudly represent the Panaca District on the Lincoln County School Board of Trustees. While I didn’t grow up in Lincoln County, I have family ties here and feel incredibly fortunate to now call it home. My wife and I were drawn to Panaca by the sense of community and family values, and we knew from the beginning that this was where we wanted to raise our children.

Because my job required a lot of travel, we made the decision to homeschool our kids—not because we were against public education, but because we saw the value in tailoring their learning experience to fit our family’s unique needs. Even after settling in Panaca, we’ve continued to value that choice, while fully supporting our local schools. All of our high school aged children attend and graduate from Lincoln County High School, and I’ve become a strong advocate for the performing arts, high school sports, and—most importantly—quality education for all students. I’m proud to serve on the board and to bring a slightly different perspective that reflects both personal experience and a deep commitment to our community’s youth.
